...she was a most cheerful girl  and also full of life,  every  sad and unhappy girl looked at her enviously  including ramsga , both had become  friends  in college,  now both were doing  b a , ramshamsha was drawn like a mother towards her friend  was  greatly  impressed by her friend s nature  and why shouldn't she   be after all tgey were leading a completely independent life  , a happy life is a great attraction  , for instance  in pitch darkness a tiny sliver of light draws  all eyes towards itself,  in the same way  ramsha  was drawn like a moth towards her friend,  

Ramsha  s mother died when she was very small  and within a month her father remarried  zubeda a thirty year old  beautiful woman,  she is not complaining why he remarried so quickly  but  she regrets him forgetting her completely  and the stepmother was given full control of the entire family,  stepmother was  typically  a cruel wicked woman  who enjoyed  harassing  the innocent,  there are some exceptions of course  where stepmothers are genuinely concerned and kind,  Ramsha had to go through a terrible phase of life growing up  ill treated and neglected,   she was  made to  do all the  household chores,  with her little hands in that tender age she would do the tasks  of washing  the laundry  , kitchen dishes  cleaning the house  and doing her work she missed her dead mother and wept  yet the stepmother showed no mercy  she was relentless
