-during the day time charpais were used to spread out chess by the players and spectators all accommodated into the battle field
-at night the same charpai was turned from chess ground to dastarkhwan table inviting enticing temptingly all the family and friends to surround it
-housewives and other homely women used the charpai as the stepping stone to get on to a higher level to wipe the spider webs
-the mischief makers used the charpai as ladder to steal birds nests hidden in nooks and corners
