Character sketch of hamid, the only son of the second begum where the narrator is working, he finds hamid is a hakim"s son and does not take orders, nor does he understand what obedience means, so instead of commanding hamid he simply guides him showing him the riht direction , how to read and write, soon hamid learns to read and write , where othes had failed to control him as he was stubborn , narrator easily finds out a way to handle him, soon the begum also happily joins the classes without trying to hide the fact that she is a complete and absolute illiterate, narraor sees how young she is compared to the older husband , she is almost like her son"s sibling, the narrator gets infatuated
