reid"s  father  was  a  german , after  the  second  world  war  he  came  to  settle  in America,   married  a  local  woman  , reid  was  their  only  child,   both  parents  were  dead, he  was  single , he  came  home  straight  from office  , and  went  to  office    next  morning , he  did  not  socialize   or  had  any  other  night  life
