..the scottish people are notorious for  being misers

 During a church service the donation pkate was circulated, the scot  placed one pound   , the priest was surprised and exclaimed one soul was saved from going to hell

The scot put one more pound on the  plate and asked if now two souls were saved from going to hell

The father confirmed   it was exactly so

The scot  explained there was no  need of the pounds on the plate any more and  picked up the pounds and  slipoed them into his own pocket
