...he glanced at tge dashboard, tge time showed seven   nearing dusk , he was driving through  new mexico  province , he stopped at a nearby  truck spot in the highway , he saw him sitting there on a bench 

It was july  summer evening , he had been driving for nine long hours , he had covered more than eight hundred kilometers, his plans included quick dinner followed by driving three hundred more kilometers on the road , to stay leftover   night at a motel on the way 

The first important thing was  his burn side chemicals  job keeping him going, second main point was karin  who was impatiently waiting fir him in los angeles, they had not seen each other for oast two weeks , he was madly in love with her , he hooed it was mutual feeling  though she spoke  not so frankly on the phone about her feelings for him

It was not that she did not love him , it was just that she was rather reserved  about articulating her love very openly
