  marriages  of  yore   during  the  era  of  the  Mughal  empire   amongst  the  muslims  were  arranged  not  by  the  consent  of  the  couple  , the  groom and  bride  used  to  be  teenagers , their  elders  fixed  their  marriages  by  ceremonial  engagement  early  in their  life  , to  follow  by the  nikah  later  , except  the  rounds  round  the  burning  fire  all  other  customs  are  similar  from mehandi, to  gifts, exchange  of  jewellery, sweets  and  money, traditions still  are  the  same, only  the  more  educated  now  choose  to  decide  who  will they  like  to  marry,
