In 1943 he took off from California  with eva Gardber and two other  staff, landing at Las Vegas  where  gardner parted with him, reaching the lake he crashed,  the staff were dead, he survived,  he paid one million dollars  to divers to get the wreckage out , it us still be  there  on display in  a  museum
