...  douglas had retired five years ago as  police officer , yet he had not forgotten the narrator whom he believed to be  accused  in  a  reported  case of   a girl gone missing seventeen years ago  when he was  still working in los angeles homicide department , he suspected the narrator had a hand in her disappearance , ,daughter of doughlous was close friend of the missing girlfriend of the narrator,  most probably the seed of doubt was sowed in the father s mind by his own daughter but there was no evidence against the narrator

 It was logical when he was on the job but he became agressively active to find oroof of his involvement in the girl s disappearance after his retirement because  he was no longer  lawfully tied back  now he works for a private detective with licence   as a client to find out what really happened to nikol vance, the missing girl friend of the narrator, , shaun doughlas was  passionately  using his power and money and expertise   to catch the narrator

...sayad was one of thise unfortunate  children  who was raised in a orphanage, how did he reach there, who placed him there, who were his parents, these were a few questions he gad no answers to nor dud he bither to find out , he was not unhappy to be living in an orphanage because he was completely unaware if the world outside the restricting walls of the orphanage, he was nit at all acquainted with the feeling of happiness , he was just familar with a strange  disatisfying  feeling all the time mussing something in life, he had no drwams no desires no spirit  , simply a plain life routine a system to follow  regularly punctually
