Michelle is left a note on her kitchen table for her husband that she is going away , its all over between them, signed sheil, a reason for concern for the narrator, who discusses the matter with a police woman detective who disgrees with him , for in his opinion michelle is abducted , she had never before signed as sheil, but the detective in charge claimed this was common practice for all those wanting to lead their life afresh with a new name, the narrator believes she is lured , or is it he who is being lured ? menacingly leading the reader to a dead end from where there is no escape
