he   forced  himself  to  get  out  of  his  bed, cross the courtyard  and  ask  who  was  there  knocking  the  door, before  he  opened  it  , there  was  no  reply  , and  there  was  noone  , he  looked  around, searched  the  whole  complex , took  a  round  of  the  vicinity, thinking  it  must  be  the  wind, but  he  was  an  experienced  officer  and  could  easily  tell the  difference  of  wind  blowing  the  door and  the  proper  strong  knock  of  a  person on the  door
