the  story  opens  in the  setting of  ansari house, zahir  akbar  and  his  wife  zaris  beghum  have  two  sons, abad  and  hamad, sambhal is  abad"s  wife  and  very  homely  , hardworking  and  patient as  she  listens  to  her  mother  in law"s lecture  regularly, hamad  married  to  shamsa  has  two  children , zahir  akbar  in a dramatic  style   brings  in a  second  wife  in his  life, asud  ali  is  his  son from second  wife, who  marries  naila  the  neice  of  zaris  beghum on some  conditions, but  later  meets  a  lady photographer  alisha  a  very  strong  character and  fell  in love  with her
