-foster  asked  ben  why  was  he  sentenced  what  was  his  crime, ben  simply  answered  he  had  stolen a  painting, it  was  an  amazing  painting  by  an  artist  who  did  not  want  to  sell it, not  even  at  any  cost   though ben  was  ready  to  buy  it  any  cost  ,  the  painting  was  not  of  any  beautiful  woman  but  of  a  beggar  sitting   on a  pile  of  diamonds  , the  artist  had  an  ungly  face  that  resembled  a  malicious  spirit  , ben  one  night  reached  the  artist"s  home  where  he  was  painting  a  picture  in his  work shop  , looking  at  ben he  smiled  and  again refused  to  sell  his  pictures  because  he  never  sold  them but  he  allowed  him to  do  what  he  had  come  for  because  he  was  waiting  for  him to  come, though ben  did  not  know  what  was  attracting  him in the  painting   and  what  was  the sole  purpose  of  it he  took out  his  knife and  stabbed  the  artist  and  ran  with  the  painting  but  the  scream  alerted  his  staff  and  he  was  arrested
