.....wheat flour is  the staple  food included in  most continents,  , it is of mainly two types  red and white, tge skill of kneading tge dough has to be learnt by  practicing  , less water us used to make perfect dough fir roti chapatis,  if more water us added  dough becomes  sticky and can't be  rolled out  , usually  hands are used to mix little  by little  water in tge dry flour and then kneaded  with fists and knuckles

.....zalikha  gave up arguing with  her husband and son, she began getting ready  to go out  , a large  veil  to cover herself  was  what she pulled out , their elder son  had after getting married    not crossed  the  living portion  he was  settled in,  he rarely met   then anymore,  when  he spoke his voice  was  icy cold and dry of emotions,   his wife turned out to be unfriendly and  unsocial, zalikha  realized  her husband was right,  mother and son both left  and he waited for their return

.....onion that was earlier selling at three rupees  a kilo was not selling  at one hundred   ten,  he had a decent   storage of onion, some five thousand  sacks  were  dumped in his godown,  when he reached the market  the news was floating  that within fifteen days  Indian  supply will be restored  as a result  the price will  sharply fall

.....he got out  of the house  as his daily schedule  was into the   semi lighted street, crossing  past zubeda, s house he saw her house was  shrouded in darkness,   like always he walked past  it looking at it,  it seemed the family had still not  moved in,

The mother in law   called out her middle  daughter in law  saba  several times  as she sat  down  8n tge  coir cot  placed in tge courtyard,  her glances had   traveled  towards the  all doors  that were around,  she was sure only saba could be  in the kitchen  this  time,  perhaps  it was because of heat  of summer  that in her throat  dry  thons seemed to  crop up, heat was surrounding  the whole  place  in sizzling  sheets,  it was almost  like  being in hell to get out of the house to perform and be present  at a funeral in  the neighborhood

....after  shattering the bakery glass window  he reached rakhashanda  and banged her door,  , every one was aware  he during tge night   was going to the vegetable mandi to buy and sell,   so it was nothing  out of order,   , the door was opened by rakhashanda, s brother,  his eyes were   dazzled and  face in rage obviously he was woken up by the knock on the door  from his deep  heavy  sleep

......he continued he  then  flung  a stone  with all his  strength  at the  bakery window  where in the light of tge bulb  breads,  loads, cakes and pastries were  displayed,  , the glass  shattered  inside  into thousands of crunchy  pieces  with  a    noise,   rakhshanda, s father had just a few days ago  got it fixed,

..... nazir and his wife were in love,  he was a great lover boy always falling  generously in love  unlike his friend  who was   silently infatuated to the window  girl,   nazir had wanted to marry his  maternal uncle, s daughter,  uncle was a baker and  actively against  him a son of a  rag picker,  love is a great teacher and  teaches  expressive  vocabulary to   the lovers,  nazir would argue  so what if his was a rag picker , his earnings were honestly  hard earned  not like  the baker uncle who sold bread made from  spoiled  dough, turned  sour smelly materials into  tempting looking  sweet  cakes

....nazir, s wife  entered the emotional scene  distracting  them, her husband and her son were together  posing  problems  for her, nazir threw the cigarette butt  down on the floor crushing it under his foot, wife screaming asked why was he   dirtying the whole place,  couldn't he see the dustbin,  bazur cheekily  said he saw her and nothing else,  wife liked calling him oldie  when angry  and when  she liked him  for  his good  behavior,  again she called him oldie   he got up both were ready to repeat themselves

A  secret  mischievous glint  shone in er eyes  which is mostly  seen between  dear close soulmates,  she chipped in it was not him  who got the vegetables  for  them,  her simplicity  was extremely expressive  , she gad thought  he had planned  it himself

.....pashmina was holding  on to her digest  enjoying her reading  when a voice scolded her to stop taking interest in books and put them away  for heavens  sake  she was to get married and not be taking  any chef in dowry  to her in laws  house  so  it was better   to learn the skills of home keeping and cooking  for the sake of her future life

.....one  resident  merchant  pointed  at the red  ripe juice tomatoes  asking them to buy the lot, abba ignored him but the boy saw the tomatoes were  really  good, first time in  the mandi  he asked his abba  why didn't he buy the tomatoes,  abba explained  the tomatoes were fully ripe and would not  stay even two days before spoiling  ,  to avoid rotting  always  go for slightly  unripe ones, he had not seen this side of the fact, this new angle opened up new   sight,  he watched his abba  dealing with new arrivals and selling of  the  same  quickly  for a handsome profit

.....afsar realizing  he had been wrong and dilaveez  annoyed and not answering his phone reached the kitchen,  Safina was pouring hot steaming tea into the cups arranged in a tray, she looked up to smile at him, ge confessed  shamefully  he had been  the cause of upsetting his wife and she was not speaking,  Safina controlled her giggling  because he looked so serious  , upset and worried,  she showed  surprise and asked what happened,  why was he so rude,  his explanation was simple  he had been  kept too busy and stressed  and couldn't cope up with it and naturally became rude hurting her feelings,  now he wanted Safina, s phone to ring her

......dilaveez was  fast asleep and was woken up by her cell vibrating under the pillow,  she turned  to check it was from the one she longed for,  but on the first ring she was joyful,  on the second  ring she was excited,  on the third  thrilled  but she let the phone  keep ringing and decided not to answer it, she was angry with her husband afsar, his rude behavior and ill treatment  had disappointed  her, it was fair enough to punish him by not answering his call 

.....mrs mehmood  was surrounded    with   lots of wedding    shoppers for her   son daud and  his doctor  woul  be bride,  afsar had just entered  the scene   with eyes half open full of sleep not yet fully  awake,  he asked  why was he being   dragged   into daud,s marriage   shopping., he was explained he will also get married soon  and if much interested he could have got married before daud    , afsar was being dragged alone  but in his marriage  daud and his wife  both will be pulled in , afsar  thought of  dilaveez  and her blue eyes  and of marriage

.....khaula emerged from the washroom  and immediately found something was not right, she rushed towards the door  it was locked from outside and rita was behind this,  she tried to move the knob  with all her strength but it didn't work,  defeated she returned to her room to sit on the bed,  feeling  foolish for  getting herself led into this situation,  she now waited for the police to reach her, suddenly she remembered khazar her first cousin and picked up her phone to call him,  he answered her call and it was a moment of reassurance,  his voice  gave her strength she needed,  she spoke explaining she was in a precarious situation,  he laughed,  so many times she would forget her purse home or run out of fuel on the road and now what, just two hours earlier she had left for home,  she said she was locked up in her own apartment and there was a dead body

.....the  woman  spoke rather dryly this time  , she wanted to know what was happening  , why that stranger girl was asking her to lock the doors,  turn  off all the lights, move   into the inner rooms and was so frightened,  she herself was  khaula faridaldin , rita Joseph  and sge sat facing each other in  the bed, curious was the woman,  rita began the man was after her , he would kill her, she needed  shelter for the night or till morning  so she could  with her sprained foot escape from him, no it wasn't her husband,  sge was single,  it was a long story if khaula was interested in hearing it out

..... bill smiled  maliciously at rita, everything in this world had a price and every moment  was replaced by the following moment,  everything  was dispensable , rita cursed  bill and the doctor who sent him to kill her, she threw a food tin that directly hit him on the  forehead  , it was an unexpected move and caught him unawares,  before he could pull out his revolver she  flung another one  at him aiming  his forehead  and ran towards the door,  turning the key still hanging in the hole  , her foot turned and she slipped   hitting the door of the opposite  aprartment, the  door opened and  a woman appeared exclaiming  at her condition inviting her inside  to g8ve her some first aid,  rita was  thankful for this divine  help so timely  so perfect

.....daud  pulled out the remote from afsar, s hands and declared he was so mean making mother work for him, cooking  dishes on his demand,  he ought to cook for her and let her rest , mother smiled,  afsar mischievously said he had even a better plan  for them, to find a bride and get daud married,  mother would  have enough time to rest as the bride will take charge  ,, it was a favorite topic the three of them enjoyed  discussing  anytime,  daud loved getting attention

.....he sat hus eyes shut on tge carpet on the floor,  clad in black casuals as Mrs  nehmud sat in the sofa giving him a head massage  with oil, for the dinner  he asked his mother to cook  shashlik  and rembo rice he switched the television  on picking up the remote,  Mrs mehmood  lovingly  brushing her fingers in his hair promised she would definitely  cook  it for him  and what else,  nothing more just that,  daud from a distance shouted  what was happening,  nothing  was happening except  the dinner menu being planned

......the dusky darkness deepened to  pin up  stars in  in the sheet of the night, afsar had  come to failq s house , in tbe shadows  in the  lawn a    silhouetted   figure was  strolling,  he stopped  and turned to  go closer to the figure  halting  near it he softly asked how was she, dilaveez in her ethereal  voice thanked him  for  the rescue,  for arriving on time,  her voice  was sinking deep in his system,  getting absorbed,  faiq announced his presence  ready to leave  with afsar  giving instructions to his sister to inform mother  he  was  visiting  hasan

.....afsar stopped his car and was aware the boys surrounding the brown shawl girl could  bring harm to her and also attack him if he tried to stop them, instead he used his brain  and spoke to the girl  whose back was  towards afsar  as if  he was her close  family  come to pick her up asking her  what was the hurry to leave the house when he was ready to drive her,   catching hold of her hand  in his strong grip he ushered her to the car, opened the passenger seat door, walked round the car to sit  in the driving  seat and drove off, the girl suddenly  numb with emotion  hud ger face in  her palms  and broke into wild sobs

.....he was in the office when he got Yusuf, s message, situation had worsened  go home  quick or in  some time  it could  become even worse,   within minutes  mr mehmood called him telephonically the same thing so after quickly  winding up his work   stood up, bringing the car on the road ge realized tge situation was very critical,  on several places burnt tyres were  seen on the road,  the police and armed guards were patrolling  the  area

.....rita returned to her apartment  quite late after dysk with lots if packed foods and tins,  she was herself so overloaded  with shoppers that it was not easy to pluck out her key from the keyhole  nor was it  possible for her to shut the door after her, she was feeling low remembering  how she had  poured out  her mind about the latest  happenings across the country  as the victims were succumbing  to their painful deaths  , she regretted talking to the doctor  , but the day had passed by quietly,  she kept her shoppers in the kitchen  to turn to go to shut the main door, she saw Bill silently leaning against a sofa in the lounge smiling at her  a smile she was scared of, she asked how he managed to enter her apartment,  he retorted  it was a silly question,  naturally he opened the door to enter

.....doctor spoke frankly to his secretary Rita to take rest  and stay on leave until she feels better,  she was nervous to go on leave because  she will have nothing to do and her mind will keep on revolving around the same scenes,  she instead would like to keep herself occupied,  Jones asked her to get herself busy in that case,  as she shut the door  Jones phoned bill telling him rita was getting emotional  and pose problems,  she could be a sentimental  nuisance,  Bill promised to solve the matter that night,  that's what  Jones liked about Bill  he always  caught the point

.....Rita was unable to sleep for many days, she was associate member of world organization and secretary to doctor Jones who was researcher  and experimenting on the new deadly virus,    Rita would recall in flashes  of victims dying  painful  deaths  during the experiment,  now in her seat  suddenly she remembered  tge painful scenes and recoiled,  tge doctor asked his secretary what was disturbing her, was there any family problems,  she was single and had no family she reminded him,  so it must be  the experiment  the cause of her stress and tension

......sam was  since morning feeling very  tired, but these days the business was running smoothly,   annual  festive season rush meant more business  more profit,  so ignoring  his physical condition  he reached the shop and opened it,  but as tge evening  descended  his fever  rose and he felt quite weak, he was sneezing  and caught cold,  his partner Lee observing him declared he had a flue , sam was irritable naturally it was obvious  , lee suggested why didn't he go home and swallowed a couple of pills and rested , but sam argued  there was seasonal rush and it wasn't right to leave all the burn lee

......hello everyone  a voice  in a deep heavy   base spoke  announcing his presence,  the four of them stood up mechanically,  so all of you have  arrived,  he said  the historical moment also had come,  the nan who entered the white room was thin in his late fifties , his etes were shining wicked,  his expression was rascally, he had tied up his absolutely  snow-white shoulder length hair  in a ponytail,  he turned to walk towards his own  sofa passing the young girl working on the computer  he smiled  who nodded and pressed a button and the wall on the  side  began to move back

.....the comfortable sofas were arranged in a row on one  side  , four men sat in them, one of them was in his forties  heavy built  and had brown hair, his  eyes drew instant attention for being hyper active  that moved  in all directions in great speed,  next to him sat two  young women in thirties one of them blonde  who kept brushing her hair tge other very dark skinned with  bright red hair,  her dark glasses added  a touch to her personality,  with them in the row the last was a very tall over six feet a wiry young man  and all of the four  sat straight staring at tge wall before them  as if it was a cinema screen and  they were enjoying  watching the movie silently

Deep  thick darkness  began to clear away slowly,  faded  scene  gradually began to surface in its full clarity,  he looked at the wall clock  and some time later  he saw miss mehmood approach,    her face was a  picture of sheer sorrow,  he closed his eyes trying to avoid   confronting  her, he by all means wanted to avoid   sorrows of all kinds, her fingers  combing his hair   she asked  in a most gentle  and  loving  tone  how he was feeling now his life was saved because  he was rushedt to the  hospital but an idiotic feeling had settled down in his mind crushing  him, for past two days he was expecting to be dead in the  hospital but death was not being kind to him to grant him his wish to punish him
