RelaxationIt seems that the stress, which comes with modern living, inhabits all corners of our consciousness and all areas of our lives. Many people consider being able to relax an achievement in itself. Making meditation a natural part of our life, with its practical benefits, is the deepest form of relaxation. While the deepest levels of soul-consciousness mean our thoughts are slow and peaceful, the secret of staying relaxed in the practical situations of everyday life is to ensure that our mind is always filled with positive and soul-conscious thoughts and free from negative and waste thoughts.

Stress Management
Standing Back, Observing and Steering -
Standing Back : We can do this individually or as a team, when stressful situations occur. We may take a few minutes to stand back mentally and physically from the situation or scene.
Observing : The next step is to re-view the situation, as if we are an onlooker or a detached observer. Being as silent as possible, we can ask ourselves if the thoughts we are having are the ones we wish to keep, if they are going where we would choose them to.
Steering : In the resulting silence, it is possible to steer (change direction) our thinking to where we want it to be; perhaps to personal affirmations (positive thoughts) we use to calm us. The affirmations can be: 'I am aware of myself as calm and peaceful' or, '….as happy and content', etc.
This technique changes our attitudes and feelings, which influences positively the situation as well as how others respond.

Relaxed Breathing
This simple meditative breathing exercise will help you re-establish calm breathing. It is a good first-aid exercise to see you through difficult emotional situations.
1. Sit or recline in a quiet room with your eyes closed. Visualize your thoughts as a mass of bubbles. Exhale slowly through your mouth. As you do so, imagine all these thought bubbles being blown away. You will already begin to feel more relaxed.
2. Now re-direct your entire attention to your nostrils. Breathe in and out through your nose, and as you do so visualize the air passing through the nostrils at your command.
3. If your mind starts to wander, don't give up. Simply re-focus your attention on your nostrils and try to let the sensation of breathing fill your consciousness.
4. Practice this exercise for as long as is comfortable. Repeat it daily until you feel yourself breathing naturally.

Self Empowerment
Our internal strengths create the foundation on which we make our decisions in life, how we relate to others and how we understand ourselves. For most people they are understood but never made very conscious. They lie below the surface and are not openly talked about. Bringing them into our conscious understanding enhances our process of self empowerment.
To realize and review your strengths, sit comfortably in a pleasant atmosphere and answer silently the following questions: A. Look back into the past and remember the times when you experienced your greatest successes. List the unique talents or strengths, which you made, use of at those times. B. List the specific features, which you admire in yourself. C. If you were to take the opinion of your family, friends and colleagues, what strengths would they say that you possessed? D. List your most valuable assets. E. Now examine your answers and summarize. What are your main strengths?

Listen!Listen,if stars are litit means - there is someone who needs it.It means - someone wants them to be,that someone deems those specks of spitmagnificent. And overwrought,in the swirls of afternoon dust,he bursts in on God,afraid he might be already late.In tears,he kisses God's sinewy handand begs him to guaranteethat there will definitely be a star.He swearshe won't be able to stand that starless ordeal.Later,He wanders around, worried, but outwardly calm. And to everyone else, he says:'Now,it's all right. You are no longer afraid, are you?'Listen,if stars are lit,it means - there is someone who needs it.It means it is essentialthat every eveningat least one star should ascendover the crest of the building.

Anger Management
For some time therapists have believed that anger is OK - in fact, many therapists still believe that it's good to get angry once in a while. Around fifteen years ago in Japan it was discovered that around 10,000 executives were dying every year from overwork (Karoshi) and they traced the cause to excessive, but suppressed, anger. So they created 'anger rooms' in the basements of their office blocks, padded the walls and put a baseball bat in the room. They told executives, that if they felt anger coming on they should go to the room and just hit the walls with the bat as hard, and as much, as they wanted in order to get the anger out of their system. Two years later they measured the results. The amount of anger had increased. Why? After much head scratching (thinking) they eventually realized that people who were going to the rooms regularly were practicing getting angry and simply reinforcing the habit. The message - don't suppress, don't repress and don't express your anger - transform it.

Take your thoughts deeper into your inner world. Discover and begin to experience your original strength of peace.Focus on the thoughts: "My original strength and original quality is peace."Ask yourself "What is peace?" When we examine what it is, then this understanding makes it easy for concentration to take place. If we do not exercise this word in our mind and intellect, it cannot be absorbed by the soul. Otherwise, we know of the idea of peace but it remains just an intellectual idea, rather than a personal reality or experience.

concentration
Concentrate your attention on the center of the forehead. Visualize a point of energy. This point of light is the soul. Now focus on the thoughts: "I am a soul, a spiritual being, working within this physical body, my material instrument, but I am not this body. I truly am this point of spiritual energy. I make use of these sense organs (eyes, ears, mouth, hands, etc.) to perform actions. I am a point of energy that is eternal (cannot be created or destroyed) and ultimately beyond time, sound and nature."

a song about a friend
a song
A song about a friendIf your friend just became a man,Not a friend, not a foe,- just so,If you really can't tell from the start,If he's strong in his heart, -To the peaks take this man - don't fret!Do not leave him alone, on his own,Let him share the same view with you-Then you'll know if he's true. If the guy on the peak got weak,If he lost all his care - got scared,Took a step on the frost - got lost,Tripped and screamed in exhaust, -Then the one you held close is false,Do not bother to yell- expel, -We can't take such aboard, and in shortWe don't sing of his sort.If the guy didn't whine nor pine,He was dull and upset, but went,When you slipped from the cliff,He heaved, holding you in his grip;If he walked right along, seemed strong,On the top stood like he belonged, -Then, whenever the chances are slimYou can count on him!

Meditation Step 1Sit in a comfortable and relaxed position. There is no need for a special position, but you need a balance between being too comfortable (in which case it is easy to fall asleep) or too rigid (in this case it is possible that you will begin to feel tense, physically and mentally). Keep the eyes open a little as this helps; to stay awake; gently concentrate on the third eye.

time management
In reality, time is not a manageable commodity, it has no independent existence. In life there are only events, and events are what define how time passes, and that means that time management is in really event management. Most events in our life involve other people, which means time management is event management is people management. However we cannot manage or control other people! We can only manage our own response to other people. However, we do influence each other.
The more we try to control others, the less influence we will have, whereas the less we attempt to control them, the more influence we will have.

meditation space
Creating A Meditation Space Of Your Own
The first step in your journey towards experiencing your true state of inner peace is dedicating a place or space in your home where you will practice your meditation regularly, even if it's just an armchair. Always use this chair, this space when you can. In this space, place two or three objects, which represent peace to you. Soft music, soft red light and lighting an incense stick ('agarbatti') can make the ambience soothing and relaxing. The walls could be adorned with white curtains to create a peaceful and purifying effect. After using this space for your practice of meditation for a few days, you will experience that the atmosphere of this space has elevated itself to a higher spiritual plane and this will aid your practice further.

a voice
***
I heard the voice. It promised solace. "Come here," it seemed so softly call. "Leave Russia, sinning, lost and graceless, Leave your land, pray, for good and all. I'll cleanse your hands from blood that stains you, And from your heart draw back black shame, The hurts of failure, wrongs that pain you I'll veil with yet another name." With even calm deliberation I raised my hands to stop my ears, Lest that ignoble invitation Defile a spirit lost in tears.
***

happy me
As a decrepit father takes delightTo see his active child do deeds of youth,So I, made lame by fortune's dearest spite,Take all my comfort of thy worth and truth. For whether beauty, birth, or wealth, or wit,Or any of these all, or all, or more,Entitled in thy parts do crowned sit,I make my love engrafted to this store:So then I am not lame, poor, nor despised,Whilst that this shadow doth such substance giveThat I in thy abundance am sufficedAnd by a part of all thy glory live.Look, what is best, that best I wish in thee:This wish I have; then ten times happy me!

Positive Reflection For The Day
To experience peace is to be in one powerful stage. The more the thoughts we have, the lesser the peace that is experienced in the mind. When we are able to maintain a powerful thought throughout the day whatever the situations come our way we can experience constant peace. Right in the morning let us take a thought that is positive and powerful. For example, 'victory is my birthright' or 'I am always fortunate'. Whatever the situations we come across, let us emerge this thought and we will be able to maintain peace.

Oh Happy Day
Alfred Gockel
Positive Thinking
Our thoughts can be classified into four main types - positive, necessary, waste and negative. On an average we create 25-30 thoughts / minute. When we are under any sort of stress or anxiety, this number increases and when our mind is relaxed or when we are asleep, this number reduces. Overall our mind creates around 30,000-40,000 thoughts in a day.
A very large percentage of our thoughts are negative or waste in nature, which is the root cause of all our stresses and strains. The regular practice of meditation helps us reduce this percentage and raise the percentage of positive thoughts, as a result of which we can experience a relaxed state of mind.
Enchanted Path
Paul Kozal
Those petty wrongs that liberty commits,When I am sometime absent from thy heart,Thy beauty and thy years full well befits,For still temptation follows where thou art.Gentle thou art and therefore to be won,Beauteous thou art, therefore to be assailed; And when a woman woos, what woman's sonWill sourly leave her till she have prevailed?Ay me! but yet thou mightest my seat forbear,And chide try beauty and thy straying youth,Who lead thee in their riot even thereWhere thou art forced to break a twofold truth,Hers by thy beauty tempting her to thee,Thine, by thy beauty being false to me.

positive reflection
Positive Reflection For The Day
In order to bring about a fundamental or transformational change three elements need to exist simultaneously: Focus: A clear sense of purpose in life and clear goals to guide your life's activities. Will: The motivation and enthusiasm to introduce and sustain the actions. Capabilities: The skills and abilities to fulfill your purpose and goals.
But where do you start? There is definitely a right place to begin and that is with your focus. Why? Because if your focus is powerful and based on a very deep sense of your inner most purpose in life, then that will provide you with the will power you need to keep going. Then if you have a clear driving focus in life and lots of will power to back it up, you will soon develop the skills and capabilities you need to make it happen. You may not have them yourself, but your enthusiasm and passion will certainly inspire others who do have them to join you.
meditation and health
Meditation And Health
The soul has seven original positive virtues - peace, joy, love, bliss, knowledge, purity and power. In meditation, we create an awareness of ourselves as a soul, which leads to an experience of these qualities. The non-physical soul is closely connected with each cell of the physical body. These qualities of the soul flow as spiritual energy to each cell and nourish them. The mind acts as a sieve (mesh) between this spiritual energy and the body. When the mind creates negative thoughts, the sieve of the mind gets blocked thereby blocking the flow of this spiritual energy, which leads to disease. These negative thoughts attract toxins, viruses, bacteria, etc. towards cells of the diseased organ. The immune system also gets damaged which leads to disease. Positive thoughts have the reverse effect.

self esteem
Title: Sunset on the SeashoreArtist: Michael Busselle
Self Esteem One of the most important human characteristics is that we are each unique human beings, with unique histories, patterns of thinking and personalities. One of the deepest habits that we learn in our childhood is to compare ourselves with others. Comparison always ends in failure, especially if we are dependent on being like someone else for how we feel about ourselves. This habit of comparison and imitation is one of the greatest killers of self-esteem. It stops us from ever beginning to know ourselves. And so the first and most important step in building our self-esteem is to break the habit of comparison, and to stop unconsciously trying to be like someone else. Question:Who are the three people you regularly compare yourself with the most? Reflection:What are your own talents and strengths today? (what makes you unique) - What talents/strengths/capabilities do you see yourself developing? Action: What will you focus on in order to help yourself break the habit of comparing?

positive atmosphere
Title: Flower and PebbleArtist: Amelie Vuillon
Creating A Positive Atmosphere
To create a positive atmosphere at home or at office, while interacting with your family members or colleagues, emerge positive intoxicating thoughts in your mind like "I am a master world almighty soul", "I am a world benefactor soul", "I am the master ocean of peace, child of the ocean of peace", "I am the master ocean of love" etc. These positive thoughts spread in your home and office in the form of positive vibrations and have a positive influence on your family members and colleagues also. As a result you can maintain your peaceful, positive state even amidst actions and interactions with them. When you are clearly established in this stage of self-respect, they will be more co-operative in your work and will have greater respect for you. Obstacles from your surroundings will not affect you.

Take all my loves, my love, yea, take them all; What hast thou then more than thou hadst before? No love, my love, that thou mayst true love call; All mine was thine before thou hadst this more. Then if for my love thou my love receivest,I cannot blame thee for my love thou usest; But yet be blamed, if thou thyself deceivestBy wilful taste of what thyself refusest.I do forgive thy robbery, gentle thief,Although thou steal thee all my poverty; And yet, love knows, it is a greater griefTo bear love's wrong than hate's known injury.Lascivious grace, in whom all ill well shows,Kill me with spites; yet we must not be foes.

meditation
Title: Into the LightArtist: Don Li-Leger Exploration and experimentation of a few methods of meditation is required before one decides which is the most appropriate method for him/her. One can know through a combination of intuition and experience. One may experience a few moments of peace while gazing into a candle flame but it is unlikely to help one transform a pattern of negative thinking and acting. The rhythm of a mantra being chanted verbally, or even mentally, may suspend anxious and angry thoughts (stress) for a while, but it won't alter the underlying beliefs and perceptions which are responsible for one's stressful emotions. A good test of any method is to ask yourself five questions: does it increase my self awareness, does it help me understand myself better; does it empower me to transform my deepest negative habits; does it help bring a lighter and more positive energy to my relationships; does it help me 'see' more clearly my values and my purpose in life.
symptoms of stress
symptoms of stress
Title: Purple TulipsArtist: Sybylle Pietrek
1. Restlessness - We could have difficulty sitting still over even short periods of time and we may fidget with our hands, twiddling our thumbs or playing with the rings on our fingers. 2. Obsessive Working - Treating work as a refuge can be a stress symptom, although stress can also manifest itself as absenteeism.3. Impatience And Short-teperdness - We could find ourselves becoming angry at any moment for trivial reasons; or we may snap at people, too quick to assume that they are accusing us. 4. Loss Of Appetite - Food doesn't interest us anymore. Either we don't eat, or we over-consume junk food, or whatever is in the store cupboard or fridge.5. Fear Of Silence - Silence may cause us discomfort, so that we "over-talk" when with other people or leave on the radio or television when alone. Conversely, we may be intolerant of noise.

stress
Title:
Golden Orchid IArtist: Lee Carlson
When we feel stressed our difficulty tends to be reflected in certain physiological and psychological symptoms, whose significance we may not fully understand. These are normal signs that we should re-evaluate our priorities – our body, or our state of mind, is telling us that something in our lives needs to change. Listed here are some of the common signs:
1. Loneliness – We may feel isolated from friends and family, or have a lasting sense of being "lonely in a crowd".2. Insecurity – We may suddenly feel shy or exposed around people with whom we are usually filled with confidence. Or we may believe that we are always being judged or criticized. 3. Loss of concentration and memory – We may find it hard to recall recent conversations or promises. We may often feel confused, so that understanding and retaining information could also be very difficult. 4. Fatigue and sleeping difficulties – Although we may feel constantly tired, we could also find it impossible to get to sleep.5. Tears and mood swings – One of the most common symptoms is that we cry easily. We may also be prone to mood swings – bouts of joyousness alternating with dejection.

silent rest
silent rest
Title: Sunset In VeniceArtist: Claude Monet
In order to maintain the physical body, we give importance to diet, exercise and to proper rest or sleep . In order to maintain the non-physical self or soul,we need to make sure that we feed our intellect with positive thoughts. Attention needs to be kept on the diet of the intellect. If we keep feeding it with positive thoughts, then automatically it will make us free from any heaviness and we will feel the lightness of our own mind. The regular practice of meditation for 5-10 minutes every morning is the exercise for the soul. Meditation will help us master our senses, think more peacefully and powerfully, maintain our focus of inner attention and therefore remain undisturbed by external events (at the workplace or at home). The third important thing is to give enough rest to the soul. We sleep to energize the body. We need to give rest to the soul in the form of silence in the mind. Refuse to do anything in this one minute. Just one minute of silence and calmness every hour gives rest to our mind and will empower us for the rest of the hour. So we are able to do our work more efficiently and effectively.

Meditation For BeginnersMake an appointment with yourself for 5 to 10 minutes each morning or evening and follow the instructions given below:1. Sit comfortably upright on the floor or in a chair.2. Keep your eyes open and without staring, gently rest them on a chosen point somewhere in front of you in the room.3. Don't try to stop thinking; just be the observer: not judging or being carried away by your own thoughts, just watching. 4. Now, create one thought about yourself; for example, "I am a peaceful being of light, situated in the centre of my forehead".5. Hold that thought on the screen of your mind; visualize yourself being peaceful, quiet and still. 6. Stay as long as you can in the awareness of that thought. Don't fight any other thoughts or memories that may come to distract you. Just watch them pass by and return to your created thought, "I am a peaceful being".

Satire on "False Perspective"

Evolution of humour
As with any form of art, the same goes for humour, acceptance depends on social demographics and varies from person to person. Throughout history comedy has been used as a form of entertainment all over the world, whether in the courts of the Western kings or the villages of the far east. Both a social etiquette and a certain intelligence can be displayed through forms of wit and sarcasm.18th-century German author Georg Lichtenberg said that "the more you know humour, the more you become demanding in fineness."
Satire may rely more on understanding the target of the humour, and thus tends to appeal to more mature audiences.

santoor
The Kashmiri santoor is more rectangular and can have more strings than the original Persian counterpart, which generally has 72 strings. The santoor as used in Kashmiri classical music is played with a pair of curved mallets made of walnut wood and the resultant melodies are similar to the music of the harp, harpsichordor piano. The sound chamber is also made of walnutwood and the bridges are made of local wood and painted dark like ebony. The strings are made of steel from Germany and England.
