-he  and  his  cousin levik  had  no  work  and   most  of  the  time  they  stayed  hungry   till they  got  some  coins  enough to  get  a  roll and  a  coffee  that  they  divided  between themselves  and  slept  in aunt  lotty"s  apartment  which  was  all time  open  for  him and  other  cousins like  him who  had  no  other  place  , they  sometimes  found  the  apartment  was  overcrowded  like  a houseful, some  then had  to  sleep  on the  floor , but  soon enough  al  other   cousins  left  them  to  try  their  luck  in the  west  , katherine  also  got  a  good  house  job  and  moved  out  , aunt  lotty  gave  levik  a  folding  bed  and  hi a  couch  to  spend  the  nights  in her  apartment in the  hall
